ESPN

What is the feeling of a bull break into a corn barn?
When I visited ESPN, if I felt there would be too much to eat, where should I start? I need some sports.
There are a lot of big meals, some of them I even have never touched before? Do they taste good or easy to digest?
I need to start from some favorite meals first because I think I will not regret if have am full of what I like.
If there are some spare places in my bell, I think I would like to give the other food a big bite, if I could find some thing really good, it will be great!

Why we fear?

It is a interesting topic in the HeathyLife.Net Radio.
The hosts ,a female and a male, are talking in the slow rhythm of background music, like chatting between two old friends.
They think that human fears is a kind of abnormal status because they don't believe they can do splendid things and they don't know how powerful they are, it a lost from their nature. I feel very interesting to this opinion. Some people fear to take the elevator, but there should be very safe and there should be nothing to fear. But why they fear, because they don't believe it is safe enough, and they don't believe themselves can be in it comfortably. Fear causes a lot of problems. We may fear new change and fear to lose what we already have.
Most of us may fear spiders and snakes, and we may guess it comes from our evolution history. The program hosts said that fear is coming from the disconnection with god at the beginning when human committed sins. Anyway, it is a interesting topic to consider a little bit when we want to live a health life.

Imagine a world in which work was pressure-free, office politics were a
thing of the past, colleagues were always nice to each other and job

The
reality is that every job comes with responsibilities, people are often
competitive and pushy and jobs are no longer for life. No matter where
you work and for whom, work can be stressful.

On one
level, pressure at work can be healthy. Feeling the excitement of new

produces pushes us to perform better. But when workload is excessive we
cross the dividing line from 'positive' to 'negative' stress and start
to feel out of control.

what employers can do to reduce stress

Western wedding
A wedding is often followed or accompanied by a wedding reception, at which an elaborate wedding cake is served. Western traditions include toasting the couple, the newlyweds having the first dance, and cutting the cake. A bride may throw her bouquet to the assembled group of all unmarried women in attendance, with folklore suggesting the person who catches it will be the next to wed. A fairly recent equivalent has the groom throwing the bride's garter to the assembled unmarried men; the man who catches it is supposedly the next to wedThank youTeacher Jeffrey

Men are from Mars, Women are from the Venus

If you search the title in Google, you will get the result from Wikipedia (the free encyclopedia) that it is one of the series books written by John Gray who is concerning about the communication and emotional needs between the opposite gender.
Men and women are naturally different as if they are beings coming from planets. In contrast, there are some similarities between the sexes against Gary's assertion, or there will be no any platform to communicate.
My wife and I argued about the way to raise our baby. I may want to have fun and play together with him but my wife may concern more about the health and disciplines. There are common ground and also conflicts and sometimes the conflicts are very furious. Tow days ago, we even fight each other. It is said the war will never end.
Recently, I have to move to another city (Zhangjiagang 3-4 hours from Shanghai) to work, it worried me a lot and I even don't know how to arrange the family and especially my 2 year old baby. In such kind of economical weather of Nov. 2008, it seems that we have not too much space to choose a better opportunity. Wife is not easy to work in a industry zone and starts every early each morning to catch the shuttle bus.  It seems so difficult, but there must be a solution and I have think about it tomorrow.

ScribeFire

I am so happy to find ScribeFire as my blog writer as well as Flock.
It is recommanded that the Windows Live Writer and Zoundry Raven are the best ones to write blogs when offline, but to my laptop, it is alright to it to use Flock and ScribeFire. I guess that is because my firewall has some setting problem.
There is also a Chinese one called (crysanthemum speaking)菊花说,but it is said it is a little bit overstaffed and redundant.
To me, there still have some time to be familiar with the functions of each of both. For there are all FireFox 3 based softwares, Flock seems more independent and ScribeFire will be implanted into FF3. You will have to find where it is on the tool bars if you don't read the intruductions for the beginners.
Another important issue is that they are supporting multiply blogs and you need not to publish blog via log in each of the blogs.
For the Spaces you need to set some E-mail publishing options before using it. Just look at some instructions on the Zoundry web site and you will get the tips.

:Friedman defines ten "flatteners" that he sees as leveling the global playing field:

#1: Collapse of Berlin Wall--11/'89: The event not only symbolized the end of the Cold war, it allowed people from other side of the wall to join the economic mainstream. (11/09/1989)
#2: Netscape: Netscape and the Web broadened the audience for the Internet from its roots as a communications medium used primarily by 'early adopters and geeks' to something that made the Internet accessible to everyone from five-year-olds to ninety-five-year olds. (8/9/1995). The digitization that took place meant that everyday occurrences such as words, files, films, music and pictures could be accessed and manipulated on a computer screen by all people across the world.
#3: Workflow software: The ability of machines to talk to other machines with no humans involved. Friedman believes these first three forces have become a "crude foundation of a whole new global platform for collaboration."
#4: Open sourcing: Communities uploading and collaborating on online projects. Examples include open source software, blogs, and Wikipedia. Friedman considers the phenomenon "the most disruptive force of all."
#5: Outsourcing: Friedman argues that outsourcing has allowed companies to split service and manufacturing activities into components which can be subcontracted and performed in the most efficient, cost-effective way.
#6: Offshoring: The internal relocation of a company's manufacturing or other processes to a foreign land in order to take advantage of less costly operations there. China's entrance in the WTO allowed for greater competition in the playing field. Now countries such as Malaysia, Mexico, Brazil must compete against China and each other to have businesses offshore to them.
#7: Supply chaining: Friedman compares the modern retail supply chain to a river, and points to Wal-Mart as the best example of a company using technology to streamline item sales, distribution, and shipping.
#8: Insourcing: Friedman uses UPS as a prime example for insourcing, in which the company's employees perform services--beyond shipping--for another company. For example, UPS repairs Toshiba computers on behalf of Toshiba. The work is done at the UPS hub, by UPS employees.
#9: In-forming: Google and other search engines are the prime example. "Never before in the history of the planet have so many people-on their own-had the ability to find so much information about so many things and about so many other people", writes Friedman. The growth of search engines is tremendous; for example take Google, in which Friedman states that it is "now processing roughly one billion searches per day, up from 150 million just three years ago".
#10: "The Steroids": Personal digital devices like mobile phones, iPods, personal digital assistants, instant messaging, and voice over Internet Protocol (VoIP).

: reading the newspaper can be informative

New words & Idiomatic expression you didn't understand during class

:RSS is a family of Web feed formats used to publish frequently updated works—such as blog entries, news headlines, audio, and video—in a standardized format. An RSS document (which is called a "feed", "web feed", or "channel") includes full or summarized text, plus metadata such as publishing dates and authorship. Web feeds benefit publishers by letting them syndicate content automatically. They benefit readers who want to subscribe to timely updates from favored websites or to aggregate feeds from many sites into one place. RSS feeds can be read using software called an "RSS reader", "feed reader", or "aggregator", which can be web-based or desktop-based. A standardized XML file format allows the information to be published once and viewed by many different programs. The user subscribes to a feed by entering the feed's URI (often referred to non-technically as a URL) into the reader or by clicking an RSS icon in a browser that initiates the subscription process. The RSS reader checks the user's subscribed feeds regularly for new work, downloads any updates that it finds, and provides a user interface to monitor and read the feeds.

E-say Month Report

Dear Nicholas,

Summery:
Another month has already flown bye like autumn leaves.  It's amazing how time flies when a student like yourself always seems to put some enlightenment in the lesson .  This past month your performance was awesome in displaying more advanced and technical words. Now that I've become familiar with your voice I can usually determine whether or not you had a long day.  I'm sure once time comes for the exam you'll come in like a rising sun.
Speaking:
You're an outstanding speaker with an ability to speak an array of topics.  Often I try to mix up our interview questions with some off the wall questions and you manage to pull through.
Listening:
You're are a sharp listener and seem to never miss a note or beat for that matter.  As I mentioned in the last monthly report is to try and keep a record  or notes when listening to English audio.
Pronunciation:
This is your strongest area, you might want to go out of your way in finding some on-line Australian content.  Content being main stream Australian media to familiarize yourself with some of the Australian accents and pronunciation.
Vocabulary:
Since you're an adult old learner you need to continue to push yourself towards learning new words of various topics each day.  I do notice you speaking new words daily in our lessons and your pronunciation is very accurate.
Grammar:
This area has been neutral, if you would really like to test your grammar skills and abilities you can try to send me some letters or emails containing short essays and articles of any topic that interest you.  You could try to begin writing immigration letters for my review.

"Heal the World" is a song featured on Michael Jackson's hit album, Dangerous, released in 1991. The music video features children living in countries suffering from unrest. It is also one of only a handful of Michael Jackson's videos not to feature the singer, the others being "Cry", "HIStory" and "Man in the Mirror." (The clips for "HIStory" and "Man in the Mirror" only feature Michael Jackson in archival footage). Jackson performed the song in the Super Bowl XXVII halftime show with a 35000 person flash card performance.
The song reached #2 in the UK Singles Chart in December 1992, kept off the #1 position by Whitney Houston's "I Will Always Love You." It fared less well in the US, reaching a peak of #27 on the Billboard Hot 100.
In a 2001 Internet chat with fans, Jackson said "Heal the World" is the song he is most proud to have created. He also created the Heal The World Foundation, a now-defunct charitable organization which was designed to improve the lives of children. The organization was also meant to teach said children about how to help others. This concept of 'betterment for all' would become a centerpiece for the Dangerous World Tour. In the documentary Living with Michael Jackson, Jackson said he created the song in his "giving tree" at the Neverland Ranch.

Qigong (or ch'i kung) refers to a wide variety of traditional cultivation practices that involve methods of accumulating, circulating, and working with Qi or energy within the body. Qigong is sometimes mistakenly said to always involve movement and/or regulated breathing; in fact, use of special methods of focusing on particular energy centers in and around the body are common in the higher level or evolved forms of Qigong. Qigong is practised for health maintenance purposes, as a therapeutic intervention, as a medical profession, a spiritual path and/or component of Chinese martial arts.
The qi in qigong means breath or air in Chinese, and, by extension, life force, dynamic energy or even cosmic breath. Gong means work applied to a discipline or the resultant level of skill, so qigong is thus breath work or energy work.
Attitudes toward the scientific basis for qigong vary markedly. Most Western medical practitioners and many practitioners of traditional Chinese medicine, as well as the Chinese government, view qigong as a set of breathing and movement exercises, with possible benefits to health through stress reduction and exercise.

Today's Correction & Comment:Hi Nicholas
You did perfect tonight for a surprise interview card. Tomorrow lesson we'll discuss a garden or park you visited.New words & Idiomatic expression you didn't understand during class
:I hope this will introduce some new vocabulary words.

The Chinese (Scholar's) Garden is a place for solitary or social contemplation of nature. To be considered authentic, a garden must be built and planned around seventeen essential elements: 1) proximity to the home; 2) small; 3) walled; 4) small individual sections; 5) asymmetrical; 6) various types of spatial connections; 7) architecture; 8) rocks; 9) water; 10) trees; 11) plants; 12) sculpture; 13) jie jing (borrowed scenery); 14) chimes; 15) incense burners; 16) inscriptions; 17) use of feng shui for choosing site.[1]
Chinese gardens were created in the same way as a combination of landscape and paintings together with poems - this was the so-called "poetic garden." The design of Chinese gardens was to provide a spiritual utopia for one to connect with nature, to come back to one's inner heart, to come back to ancient idealism. Chinese gardens are a spiritual shelter for men, a place they could be far away from their real social lives, and close to the ancient way of life, their true selves, and nature. This was an escape from the frustration and disappointment of the political problems in China. They used plants as symbols. Bamboo was used in every traditional Chinese garden. This is because bamboo represents a strong but resilient character. Often pine is used to represent longevity, persistence, tenacity and dignity. The lotus is used to symbolize purity. The flowering plum is one of the most important aspects of a Chinese garden, as it represents renewal and strength of will. Flowering peaches are grown for spring color, and sweet olive as well. The chrysanthemum is use to symbolize splendor, luster and "the courage to make sacrifices for a natural life". Peonies symbolize wealth and banana trees are used simply for the sound they make in the breeze.

Shanghai Meglev Train

Parents

I give myself a higher target to write articles better in order to give myself more confidence.
How to accomplish it? I find out that imitation may be the right way to go. First of all, I think I had better to have something to follow.
I decided to imitate the articles from the famous websites such as BBC.
There is an article call the King Liar, I will do like this.

When you walk into the door of my apartment in Pudong in the southeast corner of Shanghai map, you're greeted by a man wearing false teeth who claims to be from a nice place call Iron Pot Store.

No, it's not an commercial soap play, but a gathering of my family members taking charge of the task to take care of the next generation.

Parents from across the distances gather to see each other and live with their children and grand child with their own stories, local food habits and downright languages.

The combination style dates back to the 19th century, when Shanghai began to develop after the Opium War in 1864 and forced to open, became a common thing for generations.

One among the mass is about me who was following his job by leaving hometown in Tianjin and then settled in Shanghai and generate the descendant.

As Pudong's decade of development, the story is now played day to day in the little apartment and daily memories.

True story

Nowadays, people travel from all over the county in order to achieve better life, but only a few have been as successful as what they dreamed of to my knowledge.

Some of the few earned big houses, cars, beautiful wife, and even high ranks, taking the glory of the crown which the most dream.

But to me, parents managed to climb on the long distance train after they closed the doors of their own and left the farm they loved with what they think the best local foods we may like .

Parents form both sides will keep staying with their grandchild for some months and return back to their own lives, they also get some experience they have never had  before stitched into their memories..
I think the trick to let the Chinese serve the third generation is " to base it on the culture and social system"-the most convincing traditions have to take a great role in it.

I entered college school and shed some light on the modern knowledge on how to live in the city, I found out I was motivated by the designed society to get up to learn hard in school days and get change.

I sometimes feel I am frustrated and get very nervous in the run-up to the competition in the society, but we are formed to be like this.Anyway, life is life, it has to be stuck in a certain era.

In any case, oughtn't we be grateful to our upper generations?

Hi Nicholas
Your vocabulary was a bit lower tonight than usual, try to practice more new words during our lesson.
New words & Idiomatic expression you didn't understand during class
These are appliances we use every day in our house. Each word includes a definition and example sentence:
broiler - device for broiling meat That steak was done to perfection. Where did you get that boiler? It's fantastic.
can opener - a device to open cans by cutting around the edges of the rim. Don't open that by hand. Use the can opener!
compactor - device for pressing together; crusher You'd be surprised at how much garbage the compactor can put into one bag!
defroster - mechanism that defrosts The freezer has a built in automatic defroster so ice doesn't collect.
dicer - a machine that slices food thinly You can make a beautiful salad in under two minutes with this fantastic dicer!
dishwasher - device that washes dishes I don't know what I'd do without my dishwasher. I can't imagine having to wash all those dishes by hand!
dryer - device or appliance for removing moisture, as by hot air Honey, where's the dryer? I've just taken a shower and I need to dry my hair.
eggbeater - rotating kitchen device for mixing egg yolk Could you pass me the eggbeater so I can fluff these egg whites for the lemon pie.
fan - device for creating a current of air or a breeze I really don't like using the air-conditioning. I much prefer this fan to keep things cool.
freezer - one that freezes, as a thermally insulated cabinet He goes shopping and buys enough food to put into his freezer for a month.
furnace - structure or apparatus for generating heat Could you check if the furnace is working? It seems so cold in here.
humidifier - apparatus for increasing the humidity in a room It's a good idea to put a humidifier in the room for young babies when they have a cold.
icebox - insulated chest or box in which ice is put to cool We have an icebox out in the backyard where we keep the beer. Feel free to help yourself!
iron - instrument used for taking the wrinkles out of a piece of clothing through heat The production of modern materials such as permanent press has almost made the iron a thing of the past.
juicer - appliance for extracting juice from fruits We use a juicer to make all of our juices in-house. It's really healthy.
oven - chamber or enclosed compartment usually used to cook in, as in a stove I like cooking potatoes in the oven instead of frying them.
percolator - type of coffeepot in which boiling water is forced through a filter Can you plug in the percolator and make us a cup of coffee?
refrigerator - appliance for maintaining foods at a low temperature, or producing ice We keep the bread in the refrigerator.
rotisserie - cooking device equipped with a rotating spit In the summer, we like to use the outdoor rotisserie to cook delicious chicken.
shaver - one that shaves; a device used in shaving I prefer using a shaver instead of a razor.
stove - device used to provide heat (either electric or gas) to cook food I really don't know how to cook. About the only thing I can do is boil an egg on the stove.
toaster - device used to toast bread, esp. by exposure to heat Could you pop this bread into the toaster?
vacuum cleaner - appliance using suction to clean surfaces I used the vacuum cleaner to clean all the rugs - they really needed it.

Environment Protection

My tutor Jeffrey talked about the environment issues the evening before yesterday, I would put this article in to green in order to show that I am supporting the environment protection
. There will be a great amount of new words about this topic to remember, it seemed a heavy task to me. However, I will manage to use them. In fact, I found out time saving is also a kind of environment protection. Why? If your plan is well designed, you will finish a work efficiently and repeats and waiting in line are reduced as a result you save energy, materials and your own time as a kind of most precious non-renewable resource. It could be a little bit of being far-fetched, but it is true to me. My biggest shortcoming is that I indulge myself in some interests and purposeless activities. My wife always says that I wasted a lot of time in doing some so call "versatility". I have to admit that she is quite right sometimes although it hurt to admit, but it really makes me very inefficient, for example, the entering and preparing the examinations. Standbys are clearer than a blind man who is holding the leg of an elephant. Then, how about the 007 and Kara OK party? My reply is, 'I have to think about it.' Time arrangement depends on execution; Execution relies on willingness and self-discipline; Self-discipline requires a strong mind to control your behavior. If you want to finish something, you have to focus on that subject and concentrate on every detail of it, you have to analyze the elements of the subject and the internal and external relations of the elements and etc. These activities are time-consuming, you'd better not to be too curious about other issues which does not relate to this issue.
I lose hope of myself to be a strong sports man, a musician, a painter, a scientist, a politician, and so on, but I still have dream to be a better guy who can be proud of himself.
Time and tide wait for no man, it is very impartial to e
veryone.
To be an ecologist, start from your own behavior. Although there are still a lot of things to do to protect our environment, the first step should be launched.
I do not hope everything be done in one go, but little steps need to be hurr
ied. By doing little efforts, such as to persuade someone to put the rubbish in the can rather than throwing it on the street randomly, to recycle water before it is discharged, etc. In doing so, we can form a synergy to change the world in a big leap forward.

How To Cook Guobaorou

Guo Bao Rou(锅包肉) is a typical northeast China local dish, it is welcomed by not only Northeast China but all over the globe. My tutor Jeffery has stayed in Harbin in Northeast China to teach English for some time and he is now teaching me spoken English via E-say in Philipine by telephone calls . When we talked about the meal, he missed the Guobaorou he had enjoyed in the period very much. He gave me a task to write the the recipe of it. I searched on the internet and try to find some easy way to deal with it. Lucky me, I found a lot as reference.

Feature:

It is luster golden yellow, crisp outside and tender inside, sour and sweet delicious, in addition it is not greasy, and suits to eat in the four seasons, whets and increases the appetites.

The general procesure:
Get the tenderloin(里脊) slices salted in a bowl for a while with salty juice;
Wrap up with the starchy think liquid;
Put them into pot and fry them into the golden yellow color;
Again puts into the pot stir-fry and mix with sauce .

Details procedures:

Ingredients:

Main: tenderloin slices (320 grams), shreded Chinese onion(1 soupspoon), shreded ginger (1 soupspoon), cuted coriander (2 soupspoon)

Salty juice: Salt (1/5 soupspoon), cooking wine (1 soupspoon), chicken powder (1/3 soupspoon), starch (2 soupspoon)

Thicken Soup: soybean sauce (2 soupspoon), white sugar (2 soupspoon), rice vinegar (5 soupspoon), chicken powder (1/2 soupspoon), the starch (1 soupspoon), water (1/2 cup)

Starchy thick liquid: flour for frying (5 soupspoon), oil (1/2 soupspoon), water (1/2 cup)

Others: Oil (1 bowl)

1: get pork washed, cut it into the thin slices, add the Salty Juice and put aside in a bowl to cure it for 30 minutes. This piece of pork is called tenderloin, because it is the tenderest part of a loin of pork along either side of the backbone and between the ribs and hips.

2: Take a spatial bowl to make the Salty Juice.

3: Again takes a spatial bowl, to make the Starchy Thick Liquid.

4:Wraps up one slice with the starchy power (don't have to much, only a thin skin) and put it into starchy thick liquid, then enter it into a plate and it is ready for next step.

5: burn the bowl of oils not too hot, how to test? insert bamboo chopsticks waits until little babbles appears all around them,

Inserts the dried pork slices to the oil until they get the golden yellow color, drain them until drying oil and they are ready for next step. ( The slices need to be put into the oil piece by piece in order not to let them stuck together, don't fry them to old)

6: Burn a soupspoon oil, fry the shredded ginger and the Chinese onion till you smeel the fragrance, pour the good dried pork slices to stir-fry , pour the prepared Thicken Soup, to scatter cutted coriander at the surface onto a dish.

God is Imaginary - 50 simple proofs

Bible is a religion and a way to deal with life and society, it helped human being developed mordern civilization, but how to look upon these questions on the website God is Imaginary - 50 simple proofs is still a big puzzle. I have to say, the proved seems very scientific and logical.

We all want to live in a homonious society based on the basic values such as love, equality, freedom etc. and all these values was emphasized in the New Testament. By this means, God is good.
It seems there is a contradiction between the values and the scienctific proves.

We need to find a way to solve this problem, when people are not afraid of the God, they may lose the basic values and commit sins. Then, the sociaty will go into a wrong direction.

Where is the road? We have to find a way out.
What is God? Why do we need to follow him?
What is scientice? Why do we need to have it?
To make it clear, first of all, I think we need to compare them to find out what they are in common and what they differ from each other.

Essence of God

Essence of God

The Essence of God
The phrase "Essence of God" is a theological term used to refer to God's personal characteristics, or to the facets of His personality. Sometimes the term "Attributes of God" is used to refer to God's essence. The "attributes", or the "essence", of God are His primary characteristics, so they cannot be completely communicated to man. They can be described to a degree, but they cannot be fully defined. Finite man cannot define the infinite. The Bible is the Word of God, and as such it reveals those facts about the Creator that He has seen fit to reveal about Himself.Man suppose that God thinks like a man. We think God wants revenge, because when we're insulted, we want revenge. When we are cheated, we want immediate justice and retribution. We are indignant and shocked at the behavior of others, so we expect God to be shocked. But God does not feel insulted. He does not feel cheated - He owns everything. He is not indignant, temperamental, or emotional. He does not throw tantrums (or lightning bolts). He is not surprised or shocked by anything. He is never depressed or moody.God is not arrogant or egotistical. He knows Himself, is self-assured, and is humble.God is a rational, logical, stable-minded, patient; and all of His thinking is backed up by His omniscience. And He approaches every issue from the basis of His perfect character, the subject of this study.God approaches every issue regarding human beings out of His love for all men. His thinking toward man takes all of His attributes into consideration - but Love is always present. It is God's thinking about us, in love, that is His perfect Grace thinking. He is always gracious, always thinks Grace.Spirituality is one of God's primary attributes. God is immaterial, in a universe that is made up of both material and immaterial. God has revealed something of what He is in the Word, but only He knows Himself fully. We must rely on what is written in the Bible for any understanding of what God is like. The fact that God is a spiritual being means that He lives. Spirituality implies life. Jer. 10:10 and 1 Th. 1:9 tell us that God is alive and well. The life of God has no beginning and no ending. God is eternal. The Christian shares God's eternal life, but since his eternal life has a beginning at the time he accepted Jesus Christ as Saviour, his eternal life is properly called "everlasting life".All of the characteristics of the divine essence are present in God at all times, but not all are manifest at the same time, just as while all colors are present in a ray of white light, the individual colors can be seen only under certain conditions of reflection or refraction. Various attributes of God can be seen in certain situations. For example:* In salvation, God's love and eternal life are apparent.* In judgment, His righteousness and justice are manifested.* In God's faithfulness, His immutability and veracity are shown.* In God's Plan, His omniscience and sovereignty are seen.* In God's will, sovereignty is paramount.* In God's revelation, veracity, love, and omniscience are obvious. The rest of this paper is devoted to a description of the ten characteristics of the Essence of God as seen in the various Bible passages that describe them.
SOVEREIGNTY
God is the supreme being of the universe.Deut. 4:39 Know therefore this day, and consider it in thine heart, that the Lord, he is God in heaven above, and upon the earth beneath; there is none else. I Sam. 2:6-8 The Lord killeth, and maketh alive; he bringeth down to Sheol, and bringeth up. The Lord maketh poor, and maketh rich; he bringeth low, and lifteth up. He raiseth up the poor out of the dust, and lifteth up the beggar from the refuse, to set them among princes, and to make them inherit the throne of glory; for the pillars of the earth are the Lord's, and he hath set the world upon them.I Chron. 29:11 Thine, O Lord, is the greatness, and the power, and the glory, and the victory, and the majesty; for all that is in the heaven and in the earth is thine. This is the kingdom, O Lord, and thou art exalted as head above all. II Chron. 20:6 And said, O Lord God of our fathers, art not thou God in heaven? And rulest not thou over all the kingdoms of the nations? And in thine hand is there not power and might, so that none is able to withstand thee?Psalm 83:18 That men may know that thou, whose name alone is the Lord, are the Most High over all the earth.Isaiah 45:5,6 I am the Lord, and there is none else, there is no God beside me: I girded thee, though thou hast not known me. That they may know from the rising of the sun, and from the west, that there is none beside me. I am the Lord, and there is none else.Acts 17:24 God, who made the world and all things in it, seeing that he is the Lord of heaven and earth, dwelleth not in temples made with hands.God has a will. He is eternal, infinite, and self-determining. He makes decisions, policies, sets up principles. This is divine volition.Daniel 4:35 And all the inhabitants of the earth are reputed as nothing; and he doeth according to his will in the army of heaven, and among the inhabitants of the earth, and none can stay his hand, or say unto him, What doest thou?Heb. 6:13 For when God made a promise to Abraham, because he could swear by no greater, he swore by himself.Psalm 47:7 For God is the King of all the earth; sing ye praises with understanding.Psa 115:3 But our God is in the heavens; he hath done whatsoever he pleased. In His sovereignty, God decided to give man a free will. The meeting place of Man's will and God's will is the Cross. (John 3:16)God's sovereign plan for the human race is first, salvation, "Believe on the Lord Jesus Christ" (Acts 16:31); second, during life on earth as a believer, to be filled with the Holy Spirit and to grow in Christ (Eph 5:18; I Peter 3:18); and third, to have eternal life in heaven, in a resurrection body.
RIGHTEOUSNESS
God is absolutely holy, or righteous.Psalm 145:17 The Lord is righteous in all his ways, and holy in all his works.Lev. 19:2b Ye shall be holy; for I, the Lord your God, am holy.I Sam. 2:2 There is none holy like the Lord; for there is none beside thee, neither is there any rock like our God.Psalm 22:3 But thou art holy, O thou who inhabitest the praises of Israel.Ps. 111:9 He sent redeption unto his people; he hath commanded his covenant forever; holy and reverend is his name. Isaiah 6:3 And one cried unto another, and said, Holy, holy, holy, is the Lord of hosts; the whole earth is full of his glory. God is good.Ps. 25:8 Good and upright is the Lord; therefore will he teach sinners in the way.Ps. 34:8 Oh, taste and see that the Lord is good; blessed is the man who trusteth in him. Ps. 86:5 For thou, Lord, are good, and ready to forgive, and plenteous in mercy unto all those who call upon thee. God is free from sin.II Cor. 5:21 For he hath made him, who knew no sin, to be sin for us, that we might be made the righteousness of God in him. I John 1:5 This, then, is the message which we have heard of him, and declare unto you, that God is light, and in him is no darkness at all.God is perfect in His character and Person.Deut. 32:4 He is the Rock, his work is perfect; for all his ways are justice; a God of truth and without iniquity, just and right is he. Ps. 7:9 Oh, let the wickedness of the wicked come to an end, but establish the just; for the righteous God tests the minds and hearts. Rom. 1:17 For in it is the righteousness of God revealed from faith to faith; as it is written The just shall live by faith.Psalms 11:7; 97:6; 111:3; 119:137; Jer. 23:6; John 17:25; Rom. 10:3; I John 2:29.God is righteous in all His attitudes and actionsDeut. 32:4; 2 Sam. 22:31; Ps. 119:137; 145:17; Dan. 9:14; Rev. 19:2In the application of the concept of God's righteousness (+R) to the unbeliever, it is important to remember that His righteousness is absolute. This means that He cannot fellowship with sin. He must demand the same perfection of His creatures. Man's concept of righteousness is relative (Isa. 64:6); but no one can measure up to the divine standard nor achieve absolute righteousness by self-effort. However, the righteousness of God is freely available to all who believe. Psalm 14:3; Rom. 3:23; Tit. 3:5; Rom. 3:22
JUSTICE
God is Just, and cannot be unfair. His justice demands that disobedience against His laws be punished. Justice administers the penalty that right-eousness demands.Psalm 19:9 ...the judgments of the Lord are true and righteous altogether. Psalm 50:6 ...for God is judge himself. Psalm 58:11 ...verily he is a God that judgeth in the earth. Rom. 3:26 To declare at this time his righteousness: that he might be just, and the justifier of him which believeth in Jesus. Heb. 10:30,31 For we know him that hath said, Vengeance belongs unto me, I will recompense, saith the Lord. And again, The Lord shall judge his people. It is a fearful thing to fall into the hands of the living God. Heb. 12:231 John 1:9Rev. 15:3God's justice is satisfied because of His grace provision of redemption. The Lord Jesus Christ, through his substitutionary, effective death on the Cross, transferred the guilt of the sinner onto Himself, thus satisfying the justice of God. God is now free to pardon the sinner and justify the one who accepts His saving grace. God is equally free to justly condemn all who reject salvation. The basis of their indictment is works, never sins.1 Pet. 2:24Rom. 5:12; 6:23; 3:21-28; 4:5; 8:1John 3:18,36; 5:28-30.Grace always precedes judgment.
LOVE
God is eternal and unchangeable love.Jer. 31:3 The Lord has appeared of old unto me, saying, Yea, I have loved thee with an everlasting love: therefore with lovingkindness have I drawn thee. God, in His sovereignty, decided to treat man in grace. It is His love that motivates His grace. Righteousness and Justice stood in the way because of the sin barrier between man and God. In Love, God the Father sent His Son to the cross to die for the sins of the whole world. Righteousness and Justice are thus satisfied, the barrier is removed, and love and grace can be given to men. Eph. 2:8,9Isa. 59:2John 3:16.
ETERNAL LIFE
God is absolute existence.Ex. 3:14 And God said unto Moses, I AM THAT I AM: and he said, Thus shalt thou say unto the children of Israel, I AM hath sent me unto you.John 8:58 Jesus said unto them, Verily, verily, I say unto you, Before Abraham was, I am. God has neither beginning nor end. God existed in eternity past, and He will exist forever.Gen. 1:1 In the beginning, God...Isa. 43:13 Yea, before the day was I am he; and there is none that can deliver out of my hand: I will work, and who shall let it?Col. 1:17 And He is before all things, and by him all things consist.Deut. 32:40; 33:27; Job 36:26; Psa. 9:7; 90:2; 102:37: 135:13; Lam. 5:19; Hab. 3:6; John 1:1-4; 1 Tim. 1:17; 1 John 5:11; Rev. 1:8; 21:6; 22:16The believer in Christ has everlasting life.John 3:16 For God so loved the world that he gave his only begotten Son, that whosoever believeth on him should not perish, but have everlasting life.John 10:28,29 And I give unto them eternal life; and they shall never perish, neither shall any man pluck them out of my hand. My Father, which gave them me, is greater than all; and no man is able to pluck them out of my Father's hand. 1 John 5:11; John 8:51: 14:1-3The unbeliever will experience everlasting punishment.Matt 25:46 And these shall go away into everlasting punishment: but the righteous into life eternal.
OMNISCIENCE
God is all-knowledge.1 Sam. 2:3 Talk no more so exceeding proudly; let not arrogancy come out of your mouth: for the Lord is a God of knowledge, and by him actions are weighed.Job 26:6 Hell is naked before him, and destruction hath no covering.Job 31:4 Doth he not see my ways, and count all my steps?Job 34:21 For his eyes are upon the ways of man, and he seeth all his goings.Psalm 139:1-12Psalm 147:4 He telleth the number of the stars; he calleth them all by their names.Jer. 16:17 For mine eyes are upon all their ways: they are not hid from my face, neither is their iniquity hid from mine eyes.Matt. 10:29,30 Are not two sparrows sold for a farthing? and one of them shall not fall on the ground without your Father. But the very hairs of your head are all numbered.Heb. 4:13 Neither is there any creature that is not manifest in his sight: but all things are naked and opened unto the eyes of him with whom we have to do.Job 37:16; 42:2Eze. 11:5God is infinite in wisdom and understanding.1 Sam. 16:7 ...for the Lord seeth not as man seeth; for man looketh on the outward appearance, but the Lord looketh on the heart.Psalm 44:21 Shall not God search this out? for he knoewth the secrets of the heart.Prov. 3:19 The Lord by wisdom hath founded the earth; by understanding hath he established the heavens.Jer. 17:10 I the Lord search the heart, I try the reins, even to give every man according to his ways, and according to the fruit of his doings.Jer. 51:15 He hath made the earth by his power, he hath established the world by his wisdom, and hath stretched out the heaven by his understanding.Matt. 6:8 ...for your Father knoweth what things ye have need of, before ye ask him.Rom. 8:27 And he that searcheth the hearts knoweth what is the mind of the Spirit, because he maketh intercession for the saints according to the will of God.Psalm 147:5; Prov. 17:3; Isa. 40:13,14; Nahum 1:7; Rom. 11:33; 1 John 3:20God knows the end from the beginning (foreknowledge).Isa. 41:26; 42:9; 43:9; Isa. 46:10; Acts 2:23; 15:18; 1 Pet. 1:2As God, the Lord Jesus Christ knew all things and all men.Matt. 9:4; John 2:24; 19:28; 21:17Application to believers:Job 23:10 But he knoweth the way that I take: when he hath tried me, I shall come forth as gold.Matt. 6:31-33 Therefore take no thought, saying, What shall we eat? or, What shall we drink? or, Wherewithal shall we be clothed? (For after all these things do the Gentiles seek:) for your heavenly Father knoewth that ye have need of all these things. But seek ye first the kingdom of God and his righteousness, and all these things shall be added unto you.James 1:5 If any of you lack wisdom, let him ask of God, that giveth to all men liberally, and upbraideth not; and it shall be given him. James 3:17 But the wisdom that is from above is first pure, then peaceable, gentle, and easy to be intreated, full of mercy and good fruits, without partiality, and without hypocrisy.
OMNIPRESENCE
God is ever-present, neither limited by time nor space, immanent and transcendant.Jer. 23:24; Acts 17:27The heavens cannot contain God.1 Kings 8:27; Acts 17:24Heaven is His throne, the earth His footstool.Deut. 4:39; Isa. 66:1Man cannot escape the presence of God.Job. 34:21,22; Psalm 139:7-10; Prov. 15:3The Christian can take great comfort in the presence of God.Gen. 28:15 And, behold, I am with thee, and will keep thee in all places whither thou goest, and will bring thee again into this land/ for I will not leave thee, until I have done that which I have spoken to thee of.Josh. 1:9 Have not I commanded thee? THE TRINITY
There are three distinct Persons of the Godhead, each possessing the entire essence of deity. The three Persons comprise what the Scripture represents as the ONE TRUE GOD. In the unity of the Godhead (Acts 17:29; Rom. 1:20; Col. 2:9) there are three Persons on one substance, power and eternity (Isa. 48:16; Luke 3:22; John 14:16; Rom. 15:30; 1 Cor. 12:4-6; 1 John 4:13,14)The full title of God is "God the Father, God the Son, God the Holy Spirit". (Matt. 28:19; 2 Cor. 13:14). Each Person is made up of the same divine characteristics, making each equal to either of the other two (John 10:30; 16:15) Therefore, when the Bible speaks of God as being One, it is a reference to Essence; when speaking of the members of the Godhead, it is a reference to the Persons.

The China water crisis threatens the stability and prosperity not only in People's Republic of China but globally too, according to John McAlister from the firm Aquabiotronics. According to the World Bank forecast, Mainland China has only a per-capita share of 2700 cubic meters per annum, one quarter of the world's average

Waterbodies are polluted through continuous emissions as well as spills during emergencies. Continuous emissions are from industrial and municipal point sources, as well as from nonpoint sources such as pesticides and fertilizers.

Several authorities have responsibility for dealing with water. Water pollution is the responsibility of the environmental authorities, but surface water itself is managed by the Ministry of Water Resources. Urban water supply and wastewater is dealt with by the Ministry of Construction, but groundwater falls within the realm of the Ministry of Land and Resources.

Xitang

I had a one day trip to Xitang with Jenny and Xiao Fang. It is chracterized with its close to water civic building with white walls and triditional eaves. Usually there will be a arch bridge sitting on the little river adding another half circle reflecting in the water, there is always a perfect one, and some boats calmly sail on the mirror liked river which like a gueniouse painter who changes the picture in to a oil painting. With hanging red lantenta from the front of the eaves decorated in front of the ancient Chinese style wooden widdows and doors, it changes the air into a truanquil and harmonious atomsphere.

Yuyuan

Yu Gardern locates at the center of Shanghai, which is a part of the old County.
The mordern Shanghai is a wonder, but people still like to take Yuyang as a must-to-go spot when visiting Shanghai. I also think, the culture content is more affulent in this than that.

The Bund

The Bund (Waitan)is the evidence of Shanghai's development in the hundred years of history. It is called the exhibition of the multi-nations and formed in the late of Qing Dynasty. Now Shanghai is the most advance city in China and will be more in the future. You can see the highest buildings in the city and in China just take you eye across the Huang Pu River to Pudong.
Podong is the evidence of the mordern China in the 21st century, although it is a little bit well known , it still give you a shock when you first visit Shanghai.
I went to The Bund several times, it is now under construction, there will be a channel built under the road and let the traffic go without too much affect the scenes.

Today's Correction & Comment:
Hi NicholasMain article: Environmental threats to the Great Barrier ReefThe most significant threat to the Great Barrier Reef is climate change.Mass coral bleaching events due to rising ocean temperatures occurred in of the summers of 1998, 2002 and 2006, and coral bleaching will likely become an annual occurrence. Climate change has implications for other forms of life on the Great Barrier Reef as well - some fish's preferred temperature range lead them to seek new areas to live, thus causing chick mortality in seabirds that prey on the fish. Climate change will also affect the population and available habitat of sea turtles.
Another key threat faced by the Great Barrier Reef is pollution and declining water quality. The rivers of north eastern Australia provide significant pollution of the Reef during tropical flood events with over 90% of this pollution being sourced from farms. Farm run-off is polluted as a result of overgrazing and excessive fertiliser and pesticide use. Due to the range of human uses made of the water catchment area adjacent to the Great Barrier Reef, water quality has declined owing to the sediment and chemical runoff from farming, and to loss of coastal wetlands which are a natural filter. It is thought that the mechanism behind poor water quality affecting the reefs is due to increased light and oxygen competition from algae.
The crown-of-thorns starfish is a coral reef predator which preys on coral polyps. Large outbreaks of these starfish can devastate reefs. In 2000, an outbreak contributed to a loss of 66% of live coral cover on sampled reefs in a study by the CRC Reefs Research Centre. Outbreaks are believed to occur in natural cycles, exacerbated by poor water quality and overfishing of the starfish's predators.
The unsustainable overfishing of keystone species, such as the Giant Triton, can cause disruption to food chains vital to life on the reef. Fishing also impacts the reef through increased pollution from boats, by-catch of unwanted species (such as dolphins and turtles) and reef habitat destruction from trawling, anchors and nets. As of the middle of 2004, approximately one-third of the Great Barrier Reef Marine Park is protected from species removal of any kind, including fishing, without written permission.
Other threats to the Great Barrier Reef include shipping accidents, oil spills, and tropical cyclones.
I will prepare some physical geography terms for your review by email this week so you can apply to your interviews. Tomorrow we can continue on page 90.Thank youTeacher Jeffrey

November 09
Beginning of the winter in 2008
It is a nice day in Shanghai and a little bit of cool, a lazy and short week end in the beginning of the winter in 2008.
I am here in the office to learn English though I am missing my little baby a little.
It is very happy that in the digital world I met somebody and began to talk to each other.
But in the afternoon, the silence is changing my feeling.
What happened to me?
I felt I was such kind of ego with contradiction, just like the silent office, nobody should work on weekends, but I am here to study English.
I have been in Shanghai for 7 years since April of 2002. I remembered at that time I was alone and feels alone just like I am now in the office, especially when the ventilation is blowing slightly from the screens from the ceiling. It is making me feel like I am living in a office of South Pole surrounded by the miles of miles snows. But I know the out side is so crowded.
My wife and I planned to live in different place, mostly could be in Australia for the other half of our lives or we don't know.
Anyway, we began to fine something new and step forward. We want to jump of the little box to see the world.
Runrun has no choice in this time, we will make decision for him, haha, we don't know he does like it or nor, but I see he likes the blue blue sea and the sky.
Wish god bless us.

Hi Nicholas

Grand Gateway Shanghai (Chinese: 港汇广场) is an office complex consisting of two skyscrapers in the Xujiahui area of Shanghai, China designed by Callison Architecture. The twin buildings were completed in 2005. Each tower is 262 m high and has 52 stories.
Construction of the towers was halted in 1997 due to the Asian financial crisis and too much Shanghai office space. However, in 2002, construction recommenced and the tower was completed in 2005.
The tower is the 71st tallest existing building in the world when measured up to the highest architectural point which is the top of the dome. The height of the roof is 224.9 metres.
The Grand Gateway shopping mall is located at the base of the towers.

New words & Idiomatic expression you didn't understand during class
:
Following the relaxation of communist clothing standards in the 1980s, Chinese fashion grew closer to that of the rest of East Asia. Contemporary urban clothing seemed to have developed an obsession with brand names. In major urban centres, especially Shanghai, an increased western look is preferred, and there is an emphasis on formal wear over casual wear for adults on the streets. Teenagers prefer brand names. Children usually wear clothes decorated with cartoon characters.
However, there is also effort by some to revive traditional clothing forms such as the hanfu by the hanfu movement. At an Asia-Pacific Economic Cooperation summit in Shanghai in 2001, the host presented silk-embroided tangzhuang jackets as the Chinese traditional national costume.

next class we can discuss DIY
:
The phrase 'do it yourself' came into common usage in the 1950s in reference to various jobs that people could do in and around their houses without the help of professionals. A very active community of people continues to use the term DIY to refer to fabricating or repairing things for home needs, on one's own rather than purchasing them or paying for professional repair. In other words, home improvement done by the householder without the aid of paid professionals.
In recent years, the term DIY has taken on a broader meaning that covers a wide range of skill sets.
